As per California Department of Insurance, Auto Body Consumer Bill of Rights Section 2695.85, you are entitled to select the shop of your choice to complete the repairs. You are not required to use a shop selected by the insurance company. However, you are required by your insurance policy to allow your company a reasonable amount of time to inspect the damages prior to repairing them.
